Quality is everybody’s business

Quality’s influence across Framework ensures the best standards of care, welfare and services for our stakeholders. Quality is everybody’s business at Framework – from support for staff to a strong service user focus and stakeholder orientation.

Framework achieved certification till August 2007 and accreditation till November 2007 from Quality Health New Zealand. Three years is the maximum granted for accreditation and certification. QHNZ also conferred on Framework a certificate of outstanding achievement with the recognition that it was for "outstanding demonstration of service innovation."

Framework again received a three year certification in 2007 (until August 2010), following audit by our new audit provider, HDANZ. Certification covers organizational processes and the residential rehabilitation services.

Given the increasing amount of contract audits that are now annual for most services, Framework decided to forgo accreditation audits for the community services, in the short term. The 2008 contract audit results were positive in that the few areas identified for improvement were seen as low risk. Remedial action plans are in place, and progress against the plans is monitored.

Framework is at the stage of wishing to go beyond compliance with standards and is researching quality systems that promote ongoing improvement and excellence in service delivery.

Quality is managed at Framework primarily by the Best Practice Leader.

Staff at all levels in the organisation are involved, to ensure that all aspects of service delivery of mental health and intellectual disability care receive due attention. This is inclusive of business, financial and human resources management, as well as the direct provision of care and support to consumers and their whanau

Integral to our quality drive is risk management, and managing workplace responsibilities. Our Health and Safety Committee meets regularly, and is well supported by senior management.

Framework also has a comprehensive staff training schedule as well as team based activities that contribute to increased skills and the capture of innovative ideas.
